Gen X and older millennials once again find themselves facing down an incredible paradigm shift. While irreverence has long been a defense mechanism against claims of irrelevance, it has become the defining characteristic of an aging generation that holds brutal honesty and humor above maturity and tact. For many of us, the acceptance of "safe" or "official" narratives is more offensive than crude jokes, but this should be no surprise coming from a segment of society raised on Howard Stern, Andrew Dice Clay, Southpark, and Eminem.
Often confused as nihilists, the reality is that this group just doesn't care about your feelings, your traditions, and especially not what you deem proper or insensitive. We've grown accustomed to being ignored and overlooked in most conversations regarding the current state and future of society, but as we take over positions of power in politics and industry, our brash commentary is not only misunderstood, but willfully misrepresented and co-opted as a weapon against us.
The problem facing any group of radicals, far worse than outright dismissal, is the potential for becoming controlled opposition, to devolve into a caricature referenced by the powers that be in order to retain their own influence. The other side of that coin is that sometimes taking a ruthless position can end with the same result as being infiltrated, as has been illustrated recently in the Twittersphere surrounding the Libertarian Party.
This isn't an appeal to be nicer or more polite, but rather to illustrate the need to evaluate the potential risks and rewards of future messaging and to make sure our efforts don't unwittingly work against our goals. We need just a modicum of self awareness to prevent transitioning from being dismissed to being framed as evil, but we must also understand that our efforts will be condemned regardless.
It's this point that seems to be lost on a fairly large swath of liberty leaning or otherwise associated allies. No matter how seriously we self-censor, our viewpoints will never be seriously considered and respectably framed commentary will continue to be ignored.
But this also isn't an appeal to shit posting.
This is a warning to those who may not even be aware of what their actions are actually accomplishing: do not carry water for the regime.
Stop reaching towards offensiveness or acceptance; uncompromising truth is capable of achieving both when and where it is necessary or deserved.
I agree with you both. The democrats are always on offense, they paint candidates into boxes, then tell everyone how bad it is to belong to such a group..
You tell the truth. The left has controlled the narrative and conservatives have allowed themselves to to be paralyzed by the fear of being labled as a racist for wanting controlled borders or being tough on crime. If you are Christian, you fear being called anti LGBT. Now a MAGA Republican is a Nazi...boy I'm going to hell....for wanting a better life for all........
